BIO the intelligence that grows
Biology, humanity, nature, emotion and culture. These systems adapt, heal, remember and surprise. They evolved over millions of years without being designed.
A hackathon where life and computation meet.

01 The idea
In a computer, the BIOS is the first thing that runs. Here it is the first point of contact, where life and computation begin speaking to each other.
Biology, humanity, nature, emotion and culture. These systems adapt, heal, remember and surprise. They evolved over millions of years without being designed.
Operating systems, algorithms, machines and engineering. These systems are specified, scheduled and run. They are designed line by line, then set loose.
Neither is enough on its own. BIO + OS = BIOS: a hackathon where the two build together.
02 BIO
BIO is the living half of BIOS: cells and forests, people and the communities they make.
Bodies, ecosystems and oceans: systems that heal, adapt and keep their balance without a manual.
Health, learning, language and culture shape the needs and habits behind every good idea.
Climate, water, food and energy: the problems that belong to everyone, and to the Sustainable Development Goals.
On the BIO side, every project begins with a question: who is this for, and what should grow?
02 OS
OS is the engineered half of BIOS: systems that turn an idea into something specified, scheduled, tested and shipped.
Operating systems, networks and infrastructure: the layers everything else quietly stands on.
Data, models and AI support learning, prediction and decisions at scale.
Devices, robots and secure software: code that meets the physical world, and has to be trusted there.
On the OS side, every project ends with an answer: make it run, make it hold, and put it on stage.
03 Join
BIOS is the flagship hackathon of the CSED Department at Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology. Teams take an idea from its first sketch to a working prototype on stage.
